Eagles take tenth in the Sun Belt

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Georgia Southern track and field team finished up their indoor season on Tuesday at the Sun Belt Championships, placing five in the conference's best at the CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
"I'm very happy with the way our athletes competed during the indoor conference championship," head coach Kelly Carter said. "It was fun to watch them go out there and put their best efforts up against the best in our conference. I'm very proud of what we did, and I'm encouraged about what the future brings."
Following the first day's qualifying rounds, Bailey Willett and Jillian Sloane placed fifth and sixth respectively in the 800 meter run. Tatiyana Rayford moved up a spot on Tuesday, finishing fifth in the 60 meter hurdles final. In the 60 meter dash, Jasmin Walker came in at eighth.
A day previous, Walker won the long jump event and Kelsey Arnold took seventh place in weight throw. Overall, the Eagles took tenth place in conference.
