Georgia Southern Athletics Ties Record for GPA

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern Athletic Department and its over 400 student-athletes tied a school record with a 2.97 GPA for the 2014-15 academic year and posted the highest semester GPA in school history (3.06) in the spring semester.
The Eagles also had 202 student-athletes with a 3.0 or better GPA in the fall semester, 223 in the spring semester, 72 Dean's List selections in the fall, 77 in the spring, 40 President's List selections in the fall and 39 in the spring.
The men's tennis team led the way with a 3.62 overall GPA for the academic year, while the volleyball team led all women's programs with a 3.58 overall GPA.
Over half of Georgia Southern's 16 varsity sports posted a 3.0 team GPA in the fall or spring semester, while the football (2.79) and men's basketball (2.78) both posted their highest semester GPA in the spring.
Georgia Southern also helped complete one of the goals of the department's mantra "Rings and Diplomas" for 55 student-athletes who graduated this year.
