SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – Georgia Southern sophomore outfielder Taylor Rogers has been named All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team following a vote of the league's head coaches. Rogers, who was named SoCon Freshman of the Year last season, backed up her impressive freshman campaign with a solid sophomore season. Rogers and the Eagles open the 2015 Sun Belt Tournament on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. (ET)/10 a.m. (CT) against Georgia State.
Rogers hit .343 this season from the leadoff position, reaching base at a .370 clip. She tallied eight RBIs and had the fewest strikeouts, 16, among everyday starters. She started 38 games in centerfield for the Eagles, but has missed the final 12 games of the regular season due to injury.
Georgia Southern opens the postseason on Wednesday, May 6th, with a 10 a.m. (CT)/11 a.m. (ET) elimination game against Georgia State. The game can be seen live for free on SunBeltSports.org.
