Men’s Tennis Has Season Clipped At Hands Of UL-Lafayette In Quarterfinals

New Orleans, La. – The Georgia Southern Men's Tennis Team fell in the Sun Belt Conference Quarterfinals to the Ragin' Cajuns of University of Louisiana-Lafayette 0-4. With the loss, the Eagles end their season at 8-14.
"We had our opportunities today," said Head Coach Alexander Koning. "We played well on certain positions and every time we got something going Lafayette had an answer. The guys fought hard and it is too bad we end the season this way."
With poor weather looming, the match was moved up to a 10:45 start time with the ITA shortened format meaning singles would be contested first, with doubles played if necessary.
In the No. 4 position, Nico de Groof fell to Will Huyton 1-6, 4-6 and teammate Christian Kerrigan was setback in the No. 5 position by Jarred Wynan 4-6, 4-6.
Albert Codina Sala was defeated in the No. 2 position by Jake Wynan 4-6, 2-6 and Kyle Hoffman was unable to claim victory over Damian Farinola in the No. 3 position. He fell 4-6, 6-7 (6-8).
With the match clinched 4-0 in favor of the Ragin' Cajuns, No. 1 competitor Ristomatti Lanne saw his match go unfinished with Edgar Lopez, however the score was 6-4, 4-4 at the time the match was clinched.
Concluded Koning, "I am proud of our seniors and the leadership they showed during the season. I hope the legacy Kyle and Albert are leaving has impacted the younger players and motivates them for the years to come."
