Men’s Tennis Falls Against Florida Gulf Coast

Fort Myers, Fla. – The Georgia Southern Men's Tennis team fell to Florida Gulf Coast 1-6 Sunday from neutral site Patch Reef Park in Fort Myers, Florida. The Eagles' (2-3) lone point came from Daniel Casablancas at No. 6 singles.
Florida Gulf Coast dominated the doubles competition by going 3 for 3 to earn the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Kyle Hoffman and Eduardo Landin and were outdone by Austin Bates and Andres Alfonzo 4-6. Nico De Groof and Ristomatti Lanne were paried in the No. 2 position, but were blanked by Michael Beiler and Jordi Vives 0-6. In No. 3 doubles, Christian Kerrigan and Albert Codina Sala fell to Lucas Vaz and Ricky Ventura 4-6.
At No. 6 singles, Casablancas defeated Vaz 6-3, 6-4 to earn the only point for the Eagles.
Lanne fell to Vives at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 2-6. At No. 2, Kerrigan lost to A. Alfonzo 2-6, 3-6. Hoffman was defeated by E. Alfonzo 1-6, 4-6 at the No. 3 position.
At No. 4 singles, Codina Sala was dispatched by Ventura 4-6, 3-6, and Landin lost to Beiler 2-6, 4-6.
The Eagles look to rebound when they return to the friendly confines of the Wallis Tennis Center Saturday, Febuary 7th. The match against East Carolina University will begin at 12 p.m.
