Five Eagles made it to the semis this weekend; Landin makes it to finals
GS Championships Full Results | Wolfpack Invite Full Results
STATESBORO, Ga. – Playing at both NC State and at home, the Georgia Southern men's tennis team finished off a tennis-filled weekend, gaining quality experience for the spring season. At the Wolfpack Invite in North Carolina, Eddie Landin made it to the final round of the White Draw, but was unable to snatch the title. He lost 1-6, 1-6 on Sunday morning.
On top of Landin making it to the finals, JC Alcala made it to the semis in the same draw. Adam Brown and Nico de Groof made it to the semi-finals in the Georgia Southern Championships doubles bracket yesterday along with Marvin Spiering, who made it in the singles draw.
WHAT HEAD COACH SANDER KONING SAID
"Our team has done well this weekend on both sites. As a program we talk about being ready to compete and loving the battle and our guys have done that this weekend. We had two singles players in a semi-final, one doubles team in a semi-final and one player in the final of his draw. This is a good sign for the team, because it means we are contending for titles at tournaments. We haven't been able to take that final hurdle yet, but I am pleased with the progress of the guys. We have seen in the last couple of weeks that we can physically hang with anybody, but we still have some maturing to do mentally. This weekend has helped in that aspect and should give them confidence. "
SUNDAY RESULTS
NC STATE INVITATIONAL
Singles- White Draw Final
Reynolds (GW) def. Eddie Landin (GS) 6-1, 6-1
UP NEXT
The team has some time to prepare for the next tournament, the Wake Forest Invite, which is scheduled for Nov. 6-8 at Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
