Eagles face Mountaineers for annual GATA Game
STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Men's Soccer is back home on Saturday night for the annual GATA Game against Appalachian State. Kickoff on Saturday night is set for 7 p.m. with the match available on ESPN3. The Eagles will go for their third win on the trot against the Mountaineers following back-to-back 1-0 wins.

Each sport's annual GATA Game is designed to bring Georgia Southern student-athletes out to support their fellow Eagles. Representatives from all 17 Georgia Southern varsity sports will be in attendance.
LAST MATCH
Georgia Southern put up a strong fight against No. 4 Clemson, holding the Tigers scoreless through 45 minutes, but three second half goals gave Clemson the win. Christian Duncan scored an equalizer for the Eagles, following his own shot for his third goal of the season.
ABOUT THE EAGLES
The Eagles enter Saturday's contest at 4-6-1 on the year and 1-1-0 in league play. Georgia Southern picked up a 2-0 win over Howard last week to earn the first league win of the season. For their efforts, Georgia Southern took both Sun Belt weekly awards with Offensive and Defensive student-athletes of the week. Jack Falle won the defensive award with two clean sheets while Nick Wells took the offensive award with three assists in the two victories.
SCOUTING APP STATE
The Mountaineers saw their three-match win streak halted earlier this week with a 2-1 loss at No. 17 NC State./ App State is an even 6-6-1 on the year and 1-1-0 in league play. Stephen Chapman leads the way for the Mountaineer offense with four goals and an assist. Defensively the team has recorded five clean sheets on the season.

In one of Georgia Southern's longest series, the Eagles trail the all-time set 14-13-1. Recently, the Eagles have had the upper hand, winning the last two matches between the sides with back-to-back 1-0 wins.
