The Doubles Team Drops 6-7 after Winning 6-3 in the Semi-Final
MACOM, Ga.- Adam Brown and Nico de Groof led the Georgia Southern men's tennis team to the Doubles B Finals but couldn't trump UNCW's Hublitz and Torres pair on Sunday. The Eagles fell to UNCW 6-7 (2) in a tiebreaker in the back-and-forth match at the Mercer Gridiron Invitational in Macom, Georgia. The team moved past another UNCW team (Massa and Cramer) 6-2 in the semi-finals.

WHAT COACH SANDER KONING SAID
On the semi-finals
"In the semi-final both teams played well in the beginning and we were a little bit more aggressive towards the middle of the set and carried that momentum with us to serve out the match."
On the final
"The final was exciting to watch. It had everything in it and it came down to one or two points. UNCW (Hublitz and Torres) went up 3-0 then we came back to go up 4-3 and again 5-4. In the tiebreak our opponents got on us early and that was enough to take the match. Even though they lost I am very happy with the performance of the guys. They played aggressive and stayed focused. They executed plays we practiced well all throughout the tournament."
On the tournament overall
"Looking at the overall tournament, we had some positives and some things we need to work on. The guys implemented many things we do in practice, but we just have to make sure we execute better under pressure."

After tomorrow's matches, Rise Lanne, Eddie Landin, JC Alcala and Marvin Spiering head to Florida on Friday to compete in the ITA Regionals.
