Atlanta, Ga. – The Georgia Southern Men's Tennis team (0-1) fell to ACC-foe Georgia Tech Saturday in Atlanta by a score of 1-6.
Opening the season against formidable competition, the Eagles were unable to get the 4 needed points to secure victory. The lone Georgia Southern point came from Ristomatti Lanne as he defeated Eduardo Segura 1-6, 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
In doubles action, Kyle Hoffman and Jose Eduardo Landin Lopez were dispatched by Segura and Carlos Benito 3-6. The duo of Christian Kerrigan and Albert Codina Sala were defeated by Casey Kay and Cole Fiegal 3-6, while the match featuring Lanne and Nico De Groof was unfinished.
In singles, Hoffman lost to Eubanks 2-6, 1-6, Codina Sala fell to Kay 2-6, 2-6 and Kerrigan lost to Benito 2-6, 4-6. Landin was setback by Fiegel 1-6, 1-6 and De Groof fell to Daniel Yun 3-6, 0-6l.
The Eagles return to action Saturday January 24th at the Wallis Tennis Center on the campus of Georgia Southern as they take on Kennesaw State at Noon.
