
Rifle Has Solid Outing in SEARC 1 Meet

DAHLONEGA, Ga. - Kathryn Youngblood posted her second best score of her career as the Georgia Southern women's rifle team finished fourth with a score of 2247 at SEARC 1.
Competing in air rifle only, Youngblood shot a 571 just seven points short of her career best set in the SEARC Championship a year ago and was one of four Eagles to post a score of 550 or greater in the meet. The sophomore finished in the top-10 of individuals.
Tori Lewis finished second with a score of 562 while Becky Collier (559) rebounded from a slow start and nailed five bullseyes in a row to finish third on the squad. Emmy Johnson rounded out the Eagles' counters and shot a 555.
The Eagles finished just 56 points behind N.C. State, who finished first with a score of 2303. The Citadel (2289) and North Georgia (2288) rounded out the top three.
Ale Shortridge and Jennifer Middlebrook also shot in the meet and posted scores of 536 and 534, respectively.
The women's rifle team will return to competition Saturday, Oct. 4 at SEARC 2 in Charleston, S.C.
