STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Women's Soccer opened the 2014 season on Wednesday with a pair of practices at the Fair Road Training Complex. Coach Dunleavy's squad features 10 newcomers and returns eight starters from last season's team.
"We've had a great first day of preseason training," said Head Coach Brian Dunleavy. "The intensity level and the quality of play was at a very high level, higher than expected this early on. This is going to be an exciting year for our program; we have a nice blend of returning players who bring a lot of experience with a very talented group of newcomers. Our goal this preseason is to get everyone on the same page as soon as possible, reach our fitness standards, and establish positive team chemistry."

Georgia Southern plays its only preseason game of the 2014 season on August 17th when The Citadel comes to Eagle Field for an exhibition match. Kickoff for the Sunday matinee is 1 p.m. at the friendly confines.
Eagles Open the Year on August 22nd

2014 Schedule Features Eight Home Games
The Eagles open the home portion of the schedule on September 5th when in-state rival Mercer comes to Statesboro. The first Sun Belt Conference contest in Statesboro is set for October 3rd when Arkansas State visits town for a 7 p.m. tilt. 2014 Eagles Feature International Flavor
Georgia Southern continues its tradition of international players with two players from outside of the United States. Redshirt Freshman Alana McShane is a native of Dunnamanagh, Northern Ireland and has played for the U-17, U-19 and Senior national teams in Northern Ireland. Angelica Wallerstedt is a freshman from Gothenburg, Sweden. Before joining the Eagles, she played for Kungsbacka DFF in her native Sweden.
