Help write the stories in this new era of Georgia Southern Athletics
Dear Eagle Nation –
One of the things I always hear from Eagle fans is, "I was there when…" and what comes after that beginning is an incredible list of moments in Georgia Southern history.
For some, those memories begin decades ago, remembering the Georgia Southern baseball team winning the University's first national championship and its trips to the World Series. Others tell stories of welcoming home the Eagle football team in the middle of the night after its first national championship and watching Georgia Southern Basketball play on TV in NCAA Tournament games.
For others who joined who the journey more recently, our accomplishments turned the national spotlight on Georgia Southern with notable moments in this past year – our first FBS win defeating Florida in "The Swamp," our Volleyball team claiming yet another conference crown, the Eagle Men's Basketball team advancing to the tournament semifinals, our Eagle Softball team winning its third-straight league championship, and our Baseball Eagles battling to a conference title and then upsetting the fifth-ranked Seminoles.
The victories, the comebacks, the record-breaking performances, that sheer will to win, those memories, and those moments, will forever be a part of us, our program and our University. As our journey begins in the Sun Belt, in the FBS and in a new year of competition in 2014-15 for all our Eagle student-athletes, there are many more moments to come and stories to tell.We display our spirit and pride on gameday with the hope of saying "I was there when…" and we'll be able to tell our own stories about being a part of this exciting time in Georgia Southern Athletics.
Our student-athletes are writing their stories as they prepare, compete and create memories for our alumni and fans. It's the time for new legends and legacies to emerge in each and every one of our programs, to carry on the tradition of excellence, and to forge ahead in this new era.
Every moment in our history has brought us to this point of moving forward, and every Eagle in every one of our sports has the potential to be a part of the "I was there when…" moment of the future. We invite you to see those moments in person and support all our student-athletes and programs throughout their seasons.
This is our journey and this is our time.
We look forward to seeing you in Paulson Stadium for the 2014 home opener. Don't wait any longer and contact our Athletics Ticket Office to reserve your for seats for Saturday. Call 1-800-GSU-WINS or email tickets@georgiasouthern.edu.
Thank you for your support of the Eagles today, on game day, and every day. We look forward to seeing you as we begin this historic first year in the FBS and Sun Belt Conference!
