STATESBORO, Ga. – A new mid-deck, a Student Tailgate Zone, re-numbered parking spots, gates and entrances, new parking areas, Thursday night games – these are just a few of a slew of changes to the football game day experience at Paulson Stadium in 2014. Consider this your definitive resource for Game Day at Paulson Stadium this season.
Student Tickets
Admission is free for athletics-fee paying students, and there is no longer student ticket distribution during the week of the game. Simply bring your student ID with you to the game, and it will be swiped on your way into the stadium. Students are encouraged to enter Gate 14, which is also the way to enter the Student Tailgate Zone (STZ). Students can bring a friend who is not enrolled at Georgia Southern with the brand new "Buddy Ticket." "Buddy Tickets" can be purchased for $15 through the Georgia Southern Athletics Ticket Office, located in the Cowart Building behind the Southeast corner of Paulson Stadium (limit 1 per student) during normal ticket office hours. Ticket office hours are Mon.-Fri., 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. "Buddy Ticket" holders are entitled to entrance into the Student Tailgate Zone as well as the game and must enter the stadium through Gate 14.
STZ
The STZ is located in the Northwest corner of the stadium and will feature music and entertainment up until 30 minutes before kickoff. It opens at 1 p.m. for Saturday games and 3 p.m. for Thursday games. All students can enter the STZ through Gate 14 for free with their student ID and a government issued ID. "Buddy Ticket" holders are entitled to entrance to the STZ as well as the game and must enter the stadium through Gate 14. Students can reserve one of 20 tailgate spots in the STZ using this online form.
Ticketing and Gate Changes | Map | Buy Tickets
The gates have been re-numbered so make sure you take a peek at this map. Will Call is located between Gates 7 and 8 on the South side of the stadium. Most of the grass seating is gone, but there is one section remaining as you enter the stadium through Gate 8. Those are 300 season tickets only and available through the Family Plan. There are also reserved seats available through the Family Plan in Sections JJ and KK. The Family Plan is the only season ticket option which does not require a donation to the Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation. Fans are no longer allowed to bring chairs or footballs into Paulson Stadium. Group tickets are also now available. Ticket windows open 3 hours before kickoff. Gates open 90 minutes before kickoff.
Parking | Map | Buy Parking
The biggest change with parking is that the RAC lot is no longer a free tailgating lot. Season parking passes and plans can be found here, and can be purchased by clicking HERE. Another big change with Game Day parking this year is the renumbering of several of our parking/tailgating lots at Paulson Stadium. For fans that choose not to purchase a reserved tailgating spot in one of our donor lots, there are free Game Day only parking lots at the Russell Student Union, and new for this year, the Performing Arts Center (PAC) and the Ceramics and Sculpture Studio Lot are also free parking lots. Game Day shuttles, all of which are handicap accessible, begin running 2.5 hours prior to kickoff and stop running an hour after the conclusion of the game. There are stops at all three free lots, as well as the RAC. The times those four lots and the stadium lot are available for parking fluctuate between Thursday and Saturday games.
Tobacco Free
As of August 1st, 2014, Georgia Southern University is a tobacco-free campus, in compliance with the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia's policy 9.1.7. Click here for more information.
Football Operations Center
The Football Operations Center will be open to the public from 12-3 p.m. on game days on the Hall of Fame level only.
Field of Dreams and Eagle Fun Zone
The Field of Dreams, a miniature-sized turf football field, located in front of the new Football Operations Center, is an area for all kids, ages 12-and-under, to run around and play flag football. It will be monitored by Argus Security staff as well as volunteers from the athletics department to ensure kids' safety. Flag football belts will be provided, and EMS will be located close to the Field of Dreams. Kids must check in at a registration table to enter the Field of Dreams but can enter and leave the area whenever they wish without a parent being present except for children ages 3-and-under. Children 3-and-under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
The Eagle Fun Zone is a place where Junior Eagle Club members can be dropped off to play under the supervision of volunteers, who will watch and care for your children. Inflatables and other interactive games will be available as well as water stations to keep kids hydrated. The Eagle Fun Zone is located in front of the Bishop Fieldhouse grand stands, between the football field and Bishop. All JEC members who enter the Eagle Fun Zone must have a parent or guardian check them in at a registration table, located to the left of Bishop Fieldhouse as you face the building from the 50-yard line. Each child will be given a numbered wristband, and a ticket stub with the corresponding number will be given to the parent. Please keep track of your ticket stub because no one will be able to check a child out of the Eagle Fun Zone without the ticket stub corresponding to their child's wristband. Each time a child enters or exits the Eagle Fun Zone, a parent or guardian must be present.
Both the Field of Dreams and the Eagle Fun Zone will open each game when the gates open. The entrance area to the Eagle Fun Zone will close down thirty minutes before the start of the game and re-open after kickoff. The reason for this is because the same area is used for the band and cheerleaders to enter the field for their pre-game performances. As a result, no child will be allowed to enter or leave the area during those thirty minutes. Both the Field of Dreams and Eagle Fun Zone will shut down immediately after the game ends so please plan accordingly. Join the Junior Eagle Club at GSEagles.com/JEC.
