New 50,000-square foot facility is headquarters for Eagle Football program
STATESBORO, Ga. – Media from the Coastal Empire and CSRA were treated to a tour of Georgia Southern's new $10 million, 50,000-square foot Football Operations Center (FOC) Friday afternoon. Director of Athletics Tom Kleinlein led more than 30 members of the area media through the facility, beginning with the Hall of Fame atrium which includes homages to great moments in Georgia Southern history as well as recognizing Eagle All-Americans and NFL Draft picks.
Following the tour, members of the media joined Georgia Southern President Brooks Keel and First Lady Tammie Schalue on Glenn Bryant Field as he turned on the switch for the new video board. Installed on the FOC, the 852 square foot video board has a 15HD pixel layout with 525,000 individual LEDs. In addition to the video board, the new sound system is mounted on the structure supporting the videoboard which features 40 speakers throughout the stadium.
President Keel and Georgia Southern senior Football student-athletes answered questions about the new FOC. The seniors assisted with giving the tours to media and at a donor event later in the day.
