Football Flashback: FB: Coach Erk Russell used a pay phone to call President Dale Lick when he made up his mind that he would come to restart the Georgia Southern Football program. Times and technology may change and some traditions have been added to the legacy, but without question, this date, May 23, 1981, changed our institution forever.

History will be made again this season as the Eagles begin their inaugural campaign in the FBS and Sun Belt. The home season opener in the newly expanded Paulson Stadium is set for a 6 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 6th.
