ATLANTA, Ga. – Jasmin Walker improved her No. 2 all-time Long Jump distance to 6.14m (20-1.75) Friday night at the Georgia Tech Invitational, finishing in fifth place. The junior from Fairburn, Ga., won her fifth conference Long Jump and third outdoor title last month with her then-personal best 6.12m mark.
All four members of the Eagles' record-setting 4x100m Relay team competed in the 100m Dash tonight marking the first time all four have run in a race since the SoCon Championships.
Alyssa Felton, Jasmin Walker and Jordan Fordam all had performances that ranked in the top-five of their season times with Aarian Tipton getting back on the track after participating in Georgia Southern's Commencement ceremony last weekend. None qualified for the finals in that event, but kept their focus on Saturday's 4X100m Relay race at 1 p.m.
Sophomore Ashleigh Rasheed begins competition in the Triple Jump at 2 p.m. Saturday at Georgia Tech's George C. Griffin Track.
Eagle alum Lynndsey Hyter, now a professional track and field athlete, finished in a tie for ninth. She owns the fourth-best distance in the outdoor Long Jump event at Georgia Southern.
All times and marks must be entered by Sunday, May 18th, to potentially qualify for the NCAA East Region Preliminary round in Jacksonville at the end of the month.
