
Thomas Records Personal Best in Shot Put on First Day at Spec Towns

Saturday morning’s program begins with more Field events
ATHENS, Ga. – A change in the schedule for the Spec Town Invitational at the University of Georgia put only three events for the Eagles on the first day of competition, all Field events. The Spec Town Invitational, an elite meet in the state of Georgia with a limited entry list, began today with multi-events for men and women before individual events.
In the throws, Ashley Thomas and Kelsey Arnold faced tough competition in all three implements with Thomas recording a personal best in the Shot Put at 12.77m (41'10.75") and seeing her best distance in the Hammer Throw. Arnold had her best mark in the Shot Put at 11.68m (38'4") while Stephanne Henzler posted her third-best mark this season in the Hammer.
Sophomore Ashleigh Rasheed took third in the Triple Jump with a distance of 11.68m (38'4.00") in the first event Friday afternoon.
Saturday's Field events begin at 10:30 a.m. with racing getting underway for the Eagles at 1:55 p.m.
