INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –The cornerbacks and safeties were the last two groups at the NFL Scouting Combine today, splitting time on the field at on the final day of the event at Lucas Oil Stadium. Georgia Southern's Lavelle Westbrooks, with experience starting at corner and safety, posted solid performances in the on-field cornerback drills and ranked just outside of the top 15 in four tests.

"This has been a great experience for me and I am so proud that both Jerick and I could represent Georgia Southern on a national stage," said Lavelle Westbrooks as he was boarding his departing flight. "I have learned a lot throughout the combine and going back to the Senior Bowl, really the whole process. I'm looking forward to seeing what is in store leading up to the draft."

NFL personnel identified Westbrooks as a pro candidate with potential because of his size, and aggressiveness and football I.Q. After the Senior Bowl last month in Mobile, Ala., Fox Sports named the Riverdale, Ga., native as the best cover corner during the week, with "the ability to keep his pads over the balls of his feet while backpedaling allows him to make smooth transitions and efficient breaks on the ball."

The 2014 NFL Scouting Combine marked the first time two Georgia Southern players were invited to the event. J.J. Wilcox participated in 2013 and became the Eagles' highest-ever draft pick, selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round.

Westbrooks and McKinnon will return to Statesboro for Georgia Southern's Pro Day at the end of next month. The 2014 NFL Draft is set for May 8-10.
