McKinnon and Westbrooks Begin Week of Workouts at Reese’s Senior Bowl

Eagles both assigned to South team roster
MOBILE, Ala. – Georgia Southern Eagles always want the opportunity to play "One More Time," and this week, Jerick McKinnon and Lavelle Westbrooks will showcase their abilities for NFL general managers, coaches and scouts at the 2014 Reese's Senor Bowl. Both have been in training since December, preparing for a chance to play professionally. The NFL Network is providing exclusive coverage of the week's events with a recap of today's practice sessions airing from 4-5 p.m. ET.
The 2014 Reese's Senior Bowl game is set for Saturday, January 25th with kickoff at 4 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on the NFL Network. Tickets are available for the game at seniorbowl.com.
Both McKinnon and Westbrooks were assigned to the South team roster, and will be coached by the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars staff. The Eagles have spent the last several weeks training in preparation for this week, with McKinnon in Florida and Westbrooks in Arizona, arriving in Mobile this weekend.
"I am so thankful for this opportunity," said Jerick McKinnon, who is participating in the workouts and game as a running back. "I've been trying to get better every day, work on my overall game and focus on film, and running back specific drills. The regimen has been different – two training sessions a day, weights and working on speed. It's been a lot of work, but Georgia Southern really prepared me in so many ways."
In addition to practice sessions at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, McKinnon and Westbrooks will meet with team and Senior Bowl executives, participate in autograph sessions, and engage with fans in a number of community events in Mobile.
"The standards and expectations we have at Georgia Southern are high, and I will approach this week with that same perspective," commented Lavelle Westbrooks. "It's been intense with a focus completely on training, but that's what it will take to make it to the next level."
