
Upsets Push Georgia Southern to 16th in Sports Network Poll

Georgia Southern gains more than 100 points in latest vote
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Three of the top four teams remained undefeated with North Dakota State still the No. 1 FCS team in the nation in this week's Sports Network Poll with 157 first-place votes. Movement in the top 10 and upsets allowed two teams to jump from lower positions into the top 15 pushing the Georgia Southern to 16th.
The Eagles earned 1,635 points, gaining 100 more from voters than the previous week. Samford, this week's opponent, earned 46 points in the poll released today. Two teams, Maine and Delaware, joined the top 25 after being unranked.
In its first year transitioning to FBS, the Eagles are being considered for weekly rankings and honors from the Sports Network, but are not eligible to be ranked in the weekly national coaches poll.
The Eagles travel to Birmingham, Ala., for the Saturday, October 5th game at Seibert Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. local time, 3 p.m. Eastern. Tickets for this away game are available through the Georgia Southern Athletic Ticket Office until Friday at 10 a.m. Each ticket is $17.50 and may be purchased online at GSEagles.com, by phone at 1-800-GSU-WINS or in person at the Cowart Building location from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
