GSU season ticket sales up six percent from 2012
STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern surpassed last year's football season ticket total by nearly 300 tickets as announced on Monday.
The journey to the Sun Belt conference, which started in March with the official announcement and will continue with the Eagles' final FCS season, has spurred a six percent increase in season ticket sales. GSU now has sold 4,775 season tickets for the upcoming 2013 football season, 276 more than in 2012.
With less than a week to go before Georgia Southern kicks off against Savannah State on Saturday at 6 p.m., the Eagles have already posted the largest season ticket total since 2008. If GSU can reach 5,000 season ticket sales before kickoff, it will be the first time since 1990.
"This increase in season ticket sales shows the excitement level our fans have for the upcoming season and the move to the FBS," said Athletics Director Tom Kleinlein. "We want to pack Paulson Stadium to show our seniors how much we appreciate them, and our new season ticket holders are helping us accomplish that goal."
There are still plenty of great seats available, and it is not too late to secure your season tickets today. Season tickets start at just $85 and include savings of over $70 on the single game price. A chairback seat in section B or F on the home side costs just $130 for the season.
Not only can you save money by being a season ticket holder, but you also gain other benefits, including a guaranteed seat for the game, the choice of having the same seat for every game and the first opportunity to purchase newly opened seats in 2014.
Georgia Southern featured the nation's top rushing offense a year ago and returns both of their 1,000-yard rushers from last season. Back for his senior year, Jerick McKinnon ran for 1,817 yards and 20 touchdowns a year ago and combined with Dominique Swope to form a duo that ran for over 3,000 yards and 36 touchdowns.
The only way to ensure that you have a chance to see the Eagles play this season is buying your tickets now by calling 1-800-GSU-WINS or by going online to gseagles.com.
