STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern 4X100m Relay Team posted on of the top-five times of its season (45.77), but were not able to make a jump in the NCAA East Division rankings in its event. The Eagles took third at the Georgia Tech Invitational, but could not break the 45.44 mark they set at the Samford Open at the end of April. That time ranks second all time in Georgia Southern history.
The Eagles have been ranked, but other conference championships this weekend have produced some lower times in the region. Georgia Southern will now have to wait out declarations and are at the mercy of the results and intentions of other teams. The NCAA preliminary round, which features the top 24 teams in each relay event, is scheduled for May 23-25th on the campus of North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.
