Georgia Southern 4X100m Relay Team Travels to FSU Twilight Meet

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern 4x100m Relay team returns to Tallahassee, Fla., Friday, May 3rd, to compete in the Seminole Twilight. The Eagles are looking to improve their time and for a chance to race at the NCAA preliminaries later this month. The team of Jasmin Walker, Ebony Carter, Alyssa Felton and Amber Vaughn is currently ranked in the top 24 of the relay teams eligible for postseason. Additional racing opportunities, not only for Georgia Southern, but all schools in the NCAA East Division, could affect that ranking.

"Having made it to this point, our team is confident right now," said Head Coach Marlo Mincey. "The East is very competitive, even just considering the SEC and ACC schools, and we have to try and perform at our best to get one of the top 24 postseason spots available for the 4X100m relay. We still have some things to work on -- they have only run in three races together, this will be the fourth – and are still developing their chemistry. Additional practice time together, and competition on some really fast tracks this weekend and next, will hopefully help us move up that list."

The 2013 Southern Conference Outdoor Champions, the 4X100m Relay team reclaimed the Eagle Track & Field Complex facility record with a time of 45.46 and was one-hundredth of a second shy of tying the SoCon record. The Eagles improved their time to 45.44 last weekend at the Samford Open, taking first place at the meet and setting the Samford facility record. Georgia Southern finished .12 seconds ahead of second-place Tennessee.
