TAMPA, Fla. – The Georgia Southern golf team posted a 303 in the final round of the Gary Koch Invitational at Old Memorial Golf Club Tuesday afternoon to finish 10th in the 15-team tournament.
The Eagles (+31) were nine strokes ahead of 11th-place Ohio State and UNCG (+40) and six strokes back of South Florida (+25). Florida State (-23) won the tournament and Georgia Tech (-16) placed second. Southern Conference opponent College of Charleston (+11) was sixth.
"We got three solid rounds today but just didn't get a fourth," said Georgia Southern coach Larry Mays. "The conditions were harder with the wind, and the course played tough. Hopefully, we can use this as a little wake-up call heading into the SoCon Championships."
Scott Wolfes shot an even-par 72 today to finish 3-over for the tournament and tie for 23rd. Hayden Anderson (+6) and Will Evans each tied for 33rd. Anderson recorded a 73 today, while Evans shot a 75 in his final round.
Charlie Martin finished with a 3-round total of 235, and Henry Mabbett posted a 237. Caleb Morris, who played as an individual, shot a 78 today to finish with a 237.
The Eagles return to action at the Southern Conference Championships April 21-23 in Charleston, S.C.
