Box Score BRISTOL, Conn. – Shipping and deliveries of packages certainly pick up around the holidays and a special package arrived at Georgia Southern to be presented to Eagle quarterback
Kevin Ellison last week. The ESPN College Football broadcast crew of Coach Lou Holtz, Rece Davis and Mark May sent a unique memento in honor of Ellison, who earned a helmet sticker from Mark May on the night of Georgia Southern's 26-20 win over Florida.
Ellison and his teammates didn't get a chance to see May affix the decal to ESPN's on-set helmet as Georgia Southern returned to Statesboro that night. A "Football Helmet Sticker" T-shirt, representing the honor bestowed for players' performances in games, was signed by the trio of Holtz, Davis and May and delivered just prior to the University's holiday break.
The redshirt freshman from Cornelia, Ga., ran for 118 yards and tied a career-best with two rushing touchdowns. He scored the Eagles' first touchdown on a 45-yard sprint to the endzone at the end of the first half. Ellison opened the second half with Georgia Southern's leading a five-play drive, 75-yard drive that culminated with his adroit reach across the goal line for the go-ahead score.
Ellison directed the Eagles to two more touchdowns and a team total 429 rushing yards, the fourth-highest total ever recorded against Florida en route to the Georgia Southern's first-ever BCS win.
