GEORGIA SOUTHERN-FURMAN SERIES
Two schools located less than 200 miles apart traveled a combined 5,600 miles one way for their storied first meeting in the 1985 NCAA FCS (then-Division I-AA) national championship game. The final seconds of that contest sealed Georgia Southern's 22-point comeback as Eagle quarterback Tracy Ham threw a bullet of a pass to freshman Frankie Johnson in the endzone for the improbable 44-42 win. Georgia Southern and Furman have met 24 previous times with the Eagles holding a 16-8 series lead. The Eagles have won the last three games and are 8-3 at Paulson Stadium against the Paladins.
OUR HOUSE
Georgia Southern owns a 175-32 record in Paulson Stadium for an .845 winning percentage. From September 27, 1997 through December 15, 2001, the Eagles recorded 39 straight home victories, which stands as the NCAA FCS record for longest home winning streak. The Eagles also own the second-longest streak, 38 games, from Oct. 5, 1985-Sept. 22, 1990. Beginning with the win over top-ranked and previously undefeated Appalachian State in November 2010 through November 2012, Georgia Southern had the longest home winning streak in the nation in 2012 with 14 straight victories at Paulson Stadium.
