On the Range
Georgia Southern will try to defend its title at the AutoTrader Collegiate Classic in Duluth, Ga., Monday and Tuesday. The Eagles won the team tournament title last season, one of three team wins in 2012-13. Scott Wolfes tied for second, Hayden Anderson took sixth and Will Evans was 10th.
This year's field will include three top-50 squads in the latest Golfweek rankings, along with 11 teams ranked in the top 100, which includes the Eagles, who are 67th. Five players are ranked in the top 100, including South Florida's Chase Koepka, who enters ranked No. 13 in the country.
Will Evans, who is currently ranked 31st in the country, is off to a great start in his senior season. He tied for second at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic with the best 3-round score of his career, a 4-under-par 209, and followed that by tying for third at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate.
Junior Matthew Mierzejewski will see his first action of the season by playing as an individual.
