Georgia Southern honors members of Armed Services at Military Appreciation Day
MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY
Georgia Southern celebrates Military Appreciation Day Saturday with pre-game and in-game activities, presentations and a halftime musical salute by the Southern Pride Marching Band.
EAGLES WHO HAVE SERVED
Two members of the Georgia Southern Football program who have served in our nation's Armed Forces. Eagle defensive end Lennie Richardson enlisted in the U.S. Army after his 2008 season at Georgia Southern and achieved the rank of sergeant. He served as a gunner on the M1A1 tanks and finished his three and a half years of military service at Ft. Benning, Ga., after spending a year in Korea. Director of Player Development Cliff Yoshida joined the U.S. Marine Corps after his college graduation and attained the rank of captain. He was a platoon and company commander during his five years of military service. He also played at offensive guard for the Quantico Marines Football team.

Advance tickets for Saturday's game are available at GSEagles.com, by calling 1-800-GSU-WINS or stopping by the Athletic Ticket Office at 203 Lanier Drive Friday 8:30-5 p.m. or pre-game Saturday beginning three hours before kickoff.

STUDENT TICKET INFORMATION
Each student is allowed one ticket per athletic-fee-paying student and tickets may be picked up in advance of the game. Each student and his or her ID must be presented at the Georgia Southern Athletics Ticket Office (Cowart Building) Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and at the Pep Rally near the Bishop Fieldhouse Friday night. If tickets are still available, students may pick up beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Cowart Building. Students can enter Paulson Stadium with their ticket and ID at gates 1 and 7. Gate 1 is located at the corner of Lanier and Chandler while Gate 7 is located near the shuttle turnaround on Malecki Drive.

PROMOTIONS & EVENTS AT SATURDAY'S GAME
Active and retired members of the military receive a free ticket to Saturday's game when presenting an ID at the designated window at the Gate 4 Ticket Booth. Available on game day, tickets for adult family members are $17 each and a youth ticket is $12.
Domino's, Krystal and Nelligan Sports are offering great meals to show appreciation for military families at the RAC Pavilion from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Members of Georgia Southern's ROTC Eagle Battalion will march over from the RAC into Paulson Stadium.
Eagle Battalion Commander, LTC Gary Morea will swear in 35 Troops into the Army.
Children who participate in the "Cheerleader for a Day" event will end their spirit-filled day by helping bring the Eagle Football team onto the field during pre-game.
Boy Scouts from the Coastal Empire Council, who will camp out at Eagle Field as part of the Fall Camporee after Saturday's game, will help form the tunnel for the Georgia Southern Football team's entrance.
The Southern Pride Marching Band will play a halftime salute to honor all branches of the Armed Services featuring "The Armed Forces Salute," "God of Our Fathers," the national hymn of the United States of America, and "Stars and Stripes Forever," the national march.
GEORGIA SOUTHERN-THE CITADEL SERIES
Georgia Southern and The Citadel have met 22 previous times with the Eagles holding a 17-5 advantage in the series and an 11-1 mark at Allen E. Paulson Stadium. Ten contests have been decided by 10 points or less, including the last two meetings in which Georgia Southern won 14-12 in 2011 and the Bulldogs 23-21 at Johnson Hagood Stadium in 2012.
EASY FOR ELLISON
Ellison was a perfect 7-7 passing for 140 yards against Samford last Saturday, connecting with junior Tray Butler for two touchdowns, his first career TD pass for 24 yards and his career long on the next Eagle possession for 58 yards. The redshirt freshman from Cornelia, Ga., is averaging 19.27 yards per completion. The last time an Eagle posted perfect passing numbers was in 2007 when Jayson Foster was 10-10 for 147 yards and a touchdown against Western Carolina.
STILL TOP OF THE HEAP
Georgia Southern has maintained the top ranking in average team rushing yards per game since the start of the 2013 season -- for both FBS and FCS. The Eagles are averaging 371.6 yards per game ahead of New Mexico (FBS, 367.8) and Sam Houston State (FCS, 331.8).
MOVING ON UP
Jerick McKinnon continued his assault on the Georgia Southern record books, passing both Greg Hill and Roderick Russell for fifth on the career rushing list with 181 yards last Saturday for a career total 3,445.

With his two rushing touchdowns against against Samford, Jerick McKinnon put his name in the top 10 of another Georgia Southern career list, now with 36 career rushing scores to tie Kenny Robinson (1994-97) and Joe Ross (1987-90) for eighth. Tracy Ham is ahead of McKinnon in seventh place with 41.
OUR HOUSE
Georgia Southern owns a 174-32 record in Paulson Stadium for an .844 winning percentage. From September 27, 1997 through December 15, 2001, the Eagles recorded 39 straight home victories, which stands as the NCAA FCS record for longest home winning streak. The Eagles also own the second-longest streak, 38 games, from Oct. 5, 1985-Sept. 22, 1990. Beginning with the win over top-ranked and previously undefeated Appalachian State in November 2010 through November 2012, Georgia Southern had the longest home winning streak in the nation in 2012 with 14 straight victories at Paulson Stadium.

Parking is a premium at Paulson Stadium. To purchase a single spot pass is $100, a minimum donation to the Eagle Fund at the Eagle level ($300-$599) is required and spaces are assigned based on priority points and donation level. Call the Athletic Foundation about availability. RV parking is sold out for the year but eligible donors can be added to a waiting list by contacting the Athletic Foundation at 912-478-5520. Assigned handicap spaces are available near the Cowart Building for $100 and also require a donation at the Eagle level.
GET ON THE BUS, LITERALLY
SHUTTLE MAP
A free gameday shuttle for Georgia Southern fans and guests is available with service from five stops beginning 2.5 hours prior to kickoff and running for an hour after the official game time end. "Football Shuttle Stop" signs are posted so fans may identify the shuttle pick-up and drop-off locations. Average round trip is 17-20 minutes depending on traffic. From the Russell Union shuttle stop, it would not be unreasonable to plan for a 15-minute travel time prior to the game. Most of the buses in the shuttle fleet are handicap accessible with wheelchair lifts.
