The Eagles have reason to be confident heading into the conference championship. GSU leads the conference in many events heading into the weekend.  Junior Ebony Carter (Rome, Ga.) returns to defend her 100 Meter Dash conference crown. Carter put up the number one time in the conference in the 100 Meter this season (11.85), and has the second best time in the 200 Meter Dash with a 24.61.

The Eagles have dominated the conference in the hurdles. Junior Jasmine Billings (Lawrenceville, Ga.) has put up the top time in the conference in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 13.83. Freshman Taylor Wade (Loganville, Ga.) holds the fastest time in the SoCon in the 400 Meter Hurdles, running a 1:02.32.

Fellow freshman Jasmine Walker (Fairburn, Ga.) has the top long jump in the SoCon at 18'9.75, and also ran the fourth best time in the 100 Meter Dash (11.99).Sophomore Stephanie Hicks (Trenton, N.J.) holds the fourth spot in the conference in both the 100 Meter Hurdles (14.42) and the Long Jump at 17'9.75.

Senior Millicent Brooks-Millender (Douglasville, Ga.) put up the third best jump in the Triple-Jump with a 37'1. Fellow senior, Charnelle Wray (Jamaica, N.Y.) has the fourth best Hammer Throw in the conference at 151'1.

The Eagles 4x100 Relay team has put up the third best time with a 46.52. The 4x400 team has the fourth best time running 3:48.73.

The championship will begin Saturday at 9 a.m., with the award ceremony tentatively scheduled for 5:50 p.m. Sunday. The championship is free to the public and live results will be available at http://www.cfpitiming.com/2012_Outdoor_Season/SoCon_outdoor_champs_2012/
