KAUAI, Hawaii – Charlie Martin and Hayden Anderson each shot a 71, but the Eagles were 4-over as a team and fell to fifth place in the standings at the Warrior Wave Invitational at Makai Golf Club Tuesday.
Baylor shot 8-under as a team to shoot up the leaderboard into first at 9-under for the tournament, and UC Irvine was 4-under to move into second at 6-under. NC State and East Tennessee State are tied for third and four shots back, and the Eagles sit in fifth at 1-under.
Anderson (right) is tied for sixth in the individual standings at 3-under, and Will Evans is tied for 12th at 1-under. Martin moved into a tie for 24th at 3-over, and Matt Mierzejewski is also tied for 24th after carding a 78 today.
Anderson jump-started his round with an eagle on the par-3 fifth hole and was 4-under for the day after hole 16, but a triple bogey on 17 became the only major blemish on his round.
Martin birdied four holes and bogeyed three for his 71, and Evans played the first 10 holes at 4-over before finishing strong and posting birdies on holes 14 and 18.
Scott Wolfes shot a 76 today and was really only hurt by double bogeys on holes four and 14. Mierzejewski got off to a solid start and played the front nine at 1-over, but the sophomore struggled down the stretch with a triple bogey on 13 and bogeys on 16 and 18.
The final round is set for tomorrow.
