Allie Miles Named SoCon Softball Pitcher of the Month

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - After earning three Player of the Week honors in April, Georgia Southern pitcher Allie Miles (Dacula, Ga.) has capped a banner month with SoCon Pitcher of Month honors. She won six games while recording a 1.25 ERA.
Miles' strong month included a stretch of 26.0 innings without allowing an earned run. In a six-inning game against UNCG (April 22nd), Miles struck out 15 batters and was two strikeouts shy of matching the school record of 17 strikeouts. She totaled 58 strikeouts in April and moved into first place in the SoCon. Miles held opposing batters to .190 batting average during the month.
Georgia Southern Softball returns to action on Wednesday, May 11th, in the 2011 Southern Conference Softball Championship which will be held at Eagle Field in Statesboro, Ga. The tournament bracket will be announced on Monday, May 9th.
