STATESBORO, Ga. - "By the Numbers" spotlights a Georgia Southern Athletics team each week with statistics, rankings and other interesting items of note during our Eagles' seasons. The Volleyball team is the featured squad this week.
2: Georgia Southern's .264 hitting percentage against SoCon opponents ranks the Eagles second in the league in that statistical category.
3: The Eagle Volleyball team is on a three-match winning streak that started with a 3-0 defeat of The Citadel on Senior Day at Hanner Fieldhouse and includes road wins over SoCon rivals Western Carolina and Davidson.
3: Sophomore Enjoli Johnson is third in conference-only statistics for hitting percentage at .416 with 90 kills against only 16 errors.
10: Ten days remain until the Eagles begin their defense of their 2010 Southern Conference Tournament title in Birmingham, Ala.
75: The Eagles have aced their conference opponents 75 times this year, an average of 1.53 per set, good for a second-place ranking in the league. Senior Hayli Ketner is responsible for 14 of the 75 aces.
81: With Georgia Southern's win over Davidson Monday night, Chad Callihan recorded his 81st win as the Eagles' head coach.
332: Adding a match-best 18 kills at Davidson to her season totals, senior outside hitter Bethany Sanford has 332 kills and a 3.32-kills-per-set average for fourth place in that SoCon category.
1144: Junior setter Kate Van Dyke has racked up 1,144 assists this season, an average of 10.69 per game, which moved her up to second in the SoCon rankings.
1800: The Eagles have "dug out" 1800 balls with Moriah Bellissimo recording 20 or more digs in three of the last four contests. Bellissimo had a career-best 31 digs at Western Carolina Saturday night.
