Volleyball Travels to North Carolina for Two Matches

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Volleyball team (15-13, 7-5) travels to North Carolina for a pair of matches against Western Carolina (11-17, 6-6) and Davidson (14-11, 4-8) on Saturday and Monday, respectively.
The Eagles are coming off of a split of their final two home games last weekend. GSU lost 3-2 to the College of Charleston but rebounded with a 3-0 win against The Citadel on Senior Night. Bethany Sanford (Avondale, Ariz.) recorded a double-double in both contests posting 18 kills and 13 digs against the Cougars as well as 11 kills and 12 digs against the Bulldogs. Sanford averages 3.26 kills per set and 2.44 digs per set.
The Eagles currently sit in third place in the Southern Conference's South Division and rank fourth in hitting percentage and kills, while the defense stands in fourth place with 15.66 digs per set. Moriah Bellissimo (Blackstone, Va.), who recently switched to the libero position, is ranked second on the team with 325 digs.
The Catamounts are in the midst of a four-match homestand and split the first two matches. They defeated Elon, 3-2, after trading sets throughout the match. Rebecca Stoltz tallied 15 kills to lead the team in the match. Caitlin Piechota leads the squad this year with 203 kills, while Morgan Cochran is averaging 4.62 digs per set on the defensive end.
Davidson snapped a six-match losing streak on October 22nd with a 3-0 victory over Chattanooga. The Wildcats split a pair of games with Charleston and The Citadel over the weekend and will face Appalachian State in Boone, N.C., before returning home to host the Eagles. Caroline Brown leads the team with 340 kills, while Molly Crenshaw has posted over 400 digs on defense.
