Golf Travels to Duluth for Auto Trader Collegiate Classic

Georgia Southern looks to rebound from an 11th place finish at the Rod Myers Invitational two weeks ago. The Eagles are striving to find more consistency in their game--of the nine rounds they've played this season, four have been the top one or two scores posted that day, while another four have been towards the bottom.
"We need to find a way to even things out a bit this week," said Head Coach Larry Mays. "We need to learn how to make our bad rounds better. We can't let one bad hole stretch into four or five bad holes--that's what's really hurt us."
This week's course will play as one of the shortest on the year for the Eagles and the team has used their practice sessions to focus on the basic fundamentals that will help them prepare for this week's tournament.
"We're going to try and focus on the little things and playing it one shot at a time," said Mays. "The course at Berkeley Hills will be short and tight and the greens will be fast. We've practiced hitting alternate clubs off the tees so that we can do a better job of hitting our fairways. With the faster greens, it will be important to keep our ball below the hole on our approach shots if we want to put up some good scores."
The inaugural Auto Trader Collegiate Classic will be hosted by Georgia State and include a field of 12 teams from various conferences. Southern Conference opponents Chattanooga, Furman, UNC Greensboro and Wofford are set to compete along with Atlantic Sun members Jacksonville and North Florida. East Carolina, Kentucky, Minnesota, and VCU will round out the field.
