
Eagle Football 2011 Schedule Announced

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Athletics announced the 2011 Football schedule today (May 4) as the Eagles will open at Southern Conference opponent Samford on September 3rd and the regular season will end with a first-ever meeting with Alabama on November 19th. Paulson Stadium will play host to five home games with two each in September and October, and the final home game in November, which will serve as the Homecoming game for 2011.
The 2011 schedule was approved by the University Athletics Committee with kickoff times to be determined at a later date.
The home schedule for 2011 opens with Coastal Carolina on September 10th as the Chanticleers will make their second appearance at Paulson Stadium. Georgia Southern makes its first trip to North Dakota State, a return game from the 2006 season, for a September 17th matchup. The Eagles return to Statesboro for a home game against Western Carolina on September 24th.
With five weekends in October, the Eagles open the month on the road at Elon on October 1st and then have back-to-back home games versus Chattanooga on October 8th and Furman October 15th. Following an open week on October 22th, Georgia Southern travels to Appalachian State on October 29th.
The Homecoming game on November 5th versus The Citadel is followed by games on the road at Wofford on November 12th and at Alabama November 19th.
