Lucas Stuckey Joins Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation Staff

STATESBORO, Ga. – Lucas Stuckey has been hired as Director Annual Giving for the Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation. Stuckey takes over for Dan O'Dowd who resigned last month.
He will oversee the donor representative system, priority points system, coordinate donor benefits and serve as the liaison to the Eagle Football Assistance Association (EFAA).
Stuckey joins Georgia Southern after spending the last four years at East Carolina University as the Assistant Director for the ECU Educational Foundation. He was responsible for 16 alumni regions across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia. Of his 16 regions, Stuckey oversaw four of the university's five largest alumni chapters.
During his four years as a staff member on the Pirate Club, the donations grew from 3.8 million in 2006 to 5.3 million this year. The number of donors also increased by more than 4,000 members.
He also worked with the Student Pirate Club student organization, making presentations during various orientations on campus to gain membership. Stuckey worked with the Student Pirate Club and its Endowment Initiative to raise more than $100,000 by the organization.
Prior to getting hired on a full-time basis, Stuckey worked for two years as an intern with the ECU Pirate Club.
“Lucas has great experience in the area of volunteer-based fund raising while at East Carolina. The Donor Representative Program we implemented this spring is modeled after the program at ECU and we are looking to Lucas to lead us to similar fund raising success using this model,” said Athletic Foundation President John Mulherin.
A native of Burlington, North Carolina, Stuckey received degrees in Sport Management from North Carolina State in 2005 (bachelor's) and East Carolina in 2006 (master's).
He and his wife Cate (a 2005 ECU graduate in Child Development) are expecting their first child in 2010.
