Six National Championships Highlighted on ESPN 'College Football Live'

STATESBORO, Ga. — Looking for the most national championships in the state of Georgia? There's no need to look any further than Georgia Southern University. The six national championship flags that fly over Paulson Stadium in Statesboro, Georgia, are the most of any Division I football-playing institution in the state, even though the modern era program has only been in existence for 28 years. ESPN's 'College Football Live' has been covering the successful football programs in its 50 state tour this summer and Adrian Peterson's 'The Run,' the celebration of the 1999 national championship and former Eagle head coach Paul Johnson all had appearances during the special program that aired today.

Voiced by Brent Musberger, the ESPN “road trip” of the Peach state and select memorable moments paid homage to Georgia Southern's national championships, including the back-to-back titles under Coach Johnson in 1999 and 2000. Walter Payton Award winner Peterson was featured in the opening being carried off the playing field in 1999. Replays of 'College Football Live' will air on ESPN U.
