CHARLESTON, S.C. – Former Georgia Southern standout Blake Adams clinched a 2010 PGA Tour card Sunday (October 25), completing a season-long quest for the privilege on the Nationwide Tour that wrapped up at Daniel Island in Charleston, S.C. Adams was one of 25 players to receive the honor having finished among the top-25 money winners on the 2009 Nationwide Tour.
“I've worked extremely hard to get to where I am today and I'm certainly proud of myself and looking forward to next year on the PGA Tour,” said Adams. “I think the thing I'm looking forward to the most is playing the courses I saw the pros play on TV back when I was a kid. Every kid that grows up watching golf dreams to someday play those courses in a competitive environment. I'm fortunate those dreams are coming true.”
Over the course of 2009, Adams racked up eight top-10 finishes on the Nationwide Tour to finish third on the final money list. Highlighting Adams' season were two runner-up finishes at the Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic and Albertsons Boise Open. He also captured two third-place ties at the BMW Charity Pro-Am and Knoxville Open.
Adams joined the Nationwide Tour in 2007 and finished the 2009-tournament season T12th at the Ralston Creek course at the Daniel Island Club, firing a 9-under par 279.
Adams' professional success comes after a long journey of injury, support and determination. To read a feature story written on Adams earlier this summer, click here.
