Fans Vote for Your Eagle Athlete of the Week

The Georgia Southern Athletics Department has released the new nominees for the Eagle Athlete of the Week fan poll for Tuesday, January 20. The poll will open every Tuesday for fan voting and close the following Monday of each week. The Athletic Media Relations Department will nominate the student athletes every week based on the previous week's athletic events. All statistics of the nominees are from those events only, not overall season statistics. Fans vote online at www.GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com and check back on Monday to see your winner. The poll is located on the lower left side of the homepage.
This week's nominees are:
Ben Drayton III, Fr, St. Marys, Ga. - Men's Basketball
Drayton recorded season-high of 21 points and five assists in the win at UNC Greensboro. He scored in double figures in all three games last week, averaging 17.3 ppg in that span to improve his overall scoring to 8.2 ppg. In three games, Drayton had only three turnovers while playing mainly as point guard.
J'Lisia Ogburn, Jr, Dublin, Ga. ? Women's Basketball
Ogburn averaged 10 ppg in the two games last week. The junior forward shot 57 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the free throw line. In the loss to College of Charleston, the junior was the leading scorer with a team-high 15 points. She posted 13 boards, 3 steals and 5 blocks in 55 minutes of action.
Courtney Martz, Jr, Woodbine, Ga. - Swimming and Diving
Martz helped the Lady Eagles break pool records during the close loss to Davidson at the RAC. She also won the 50 free, setting a pool record with a time of 24.10, and was a part of the 400 free relay, which also set a pool record. Martz wrapped up her day with a third place finish in the 100 free.
