SOPHOMORE: Returns to civilian life and Georgia Southern after nearly four years as a gunner in the U.S. Army… Participated as a member of the scout team during spring 2013 drills… Showed improvement and flashes of athleticism in return to practice field… Hard-hitting player who will be even more productive as he gains a greater understanding of Eagle defense.
REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2008): Played in 11 games and recorded 24 total tackles (7u, 17a) as a linebacker… Recovered fumble vs. Austin Peay and credited with season-best four tackles, including a shared tackle for loss… Totaled 1.5 tackles for loss on the season with half TFLs against both The Citadel and Furman… Tallied three total tackles in four games… Had a pass breakup in season opener at Georgia, which he lists as his most exciting game.
FRESHMAN (2007): Redshirted in first year at Troy in 2007 and participated in spring drills in 2008 before transferring to Georgia Southern.
PREP: Named 1A Defensive Player of the Year and first team All-State at linebacker position for Turner County… Recorded 110 tackles with 10 sacks as a senior for Rebels... Added five interceptions and six forced fumbles to his total… As a senior forward, helped lead Turner County to 29-3 mark as Rebels reached state final four… Finished basketball career as school’s all-time leading scorer… Won varsity letters all four years in football, basketball and track… Ran the 110m and 300m Hurdles and was a member of the 4X100m relay team… Also competed in the High Jump… Advanced to state championships in High Jump and 110m and 300m Hurdles.
PERSONAL: Enlisted in U.S. Army after 2008 season at Georgia Southern and achieved rank of sergeant … Served as gunner on the M1A1 tanks… Spent one year in Korea and finished his three and a half years of military service at Ft. Benning, Ga…. Son of Sherry Richardson and Rondell Trawick… Father to three children, Malaysia La’Nay, who turns eight in July 2013, and sons Jayden and Damoni.
