Golf Heads to Administaff Augusta State Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Georgia Southern golf will head to Augusta this weekend to compete at the 30th annual Administaff Augusta State Invitational played at the par-72, 7,403 yard Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans, Ga. It is the Eagles' final competition of the season before entering the Southern Conference Championships later this month.
The three-day, 18-hole event will commence on Friday, April 4, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
Georgia Southern is one of a field of 18 schools that features 11 of the nation's top 40 teams, according to the latest Golfweek rankings, including (rank): Augusta State (54), Clemson (18), Coastal Carolina (61), East Tennessee State (26), Georgia (2), Georgia Southern (94), Georgia State (49), Georgia Tech (7), Houston (112), Lamar (32), Minnesota (66), North Carolina (33), North Carolina State (31), South Carolina (13), Tennessee (10), UCLA (5), USC Aiken and Virginia Tech (34).
Representing the Eagles will be freshman Logan Blondell (Lakeland, Fla.), junior Jordan Johnstun (Evans, Ga.), sophomore Spencer Fulford (Rocky Mount, N.C.), junior Drew Lethem (Camdenton, Mo.) and freshman Joe Monte (Chantilly, Va.).
The Eagles will tee off at 11 a.m.
Two-time defending champion Coastal Carolina seeks its third title after tallying a 4-under 284 in 2007. Georgia Southern finished tied for 15th place shooting a 17-over 881.
