David Richardson and Kimberly Morris Named Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year

STATESBORO, Ga. ? The Georgia Southern Student-Athlete awards banquet was held on Monday evening, at RJ's Steak & Seafood in Statesboro.

Senior baseball player David Richardson (Dahlonega, Ga.) and swimmer Kimberly Morris (Lawrenceville, Ga.) were recognized as the Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

Richardson carries a 3.9 GPA and is currently batting .333 for the Eagles with six home runs and 24 RBI. He was recently tabbed All-America by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) for his dedication to strength training and conditioning. Morris has a perfect 4.0 GPA and was an instrumental part of the Eagles going 12-1 during the regular season including a 9-0 mark at home and a fourth place finish at the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Championships.

The evening began with opening remarks by Director of Athletics Sam Baker followed by GSU President Dr. Bruce Grube. GSU women's basketball coach Rusty Cram gave the invocation, which was followed by dinner and then the recognizing of student-athletes.
