Eagles Finish Up at Hackler Invitational

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. - The Georgia Southern golf team wrapped up its final round of competition at the General Jim Hackler Invitational, Monday (Mar. 10) finishing in 15th place and carding a 92-over 956 at the par-72, 6,950-yard TPC of Myrtle Beach.
Junior Ryan LeFevre (Boca Raton, Fla.) led the Eagles tying for 49th place, shooting a 19-over 235. Junior Jordan Johnstun (Evans, Ga.) followed shooting a 20-over 236 (T53), while Ryan Zabroske (Alpharetta, Ga.) carded a 26-over 242 (T63). Junior Drew Lethem (Camdenton, Mo.) shot a 30-over 246 (76) and senior Chris Smith (Alpharetta, Ga.) finished the tournament shooting a 33-over 249 (77).
Making the jump from a tie for fifth place after two rounds of competition, No. 18 Wake Forest shot the day's low 292 and finished on top with a 33-over 897. Just three strokes behind was No. 11 Florida State (+36).
Winning the individual title by just two strokes was Louisville's Derek Fathauer shooting a 1-over 217.
Head coach Larry Mays and the Eagles will have little time to rest as they next prepare for the upcoming Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational. Competition begins Friday, Mar. 14 and will continue through Sunday, Mar. 16 at the Forest Heights Country Club here in Statesboro.
