POOLER,
The final 18 holes will take place on Tuesday morning (Oct. 7).
The Eagles shot an impressive opening round of 10-under 278, and followed with a 292. Furman stands five strokes back at 1-under 575.
Francis Marion (+16), Old Dominion (+20), Armstrong Atlantic (+22), Western Carolina (+27), Troy (+29),
There were eight individuals that carded an under-par in round one, four of which were Georgia Southern Eagles.
Eagles' sophomore Logan Blondell shot an opening round 67 and leads after round two shooting a 5-under 139 on the day. Teammate Spencer Fulford shot identical rounds of 71 to finish 2-under and second individually.
“We played solid today, 10-under was a great round this morning. Heading into the event I didn't necessarily see a 10-under able to be carded on this course,” said Eagles' head coach Larry Mays. “We gave up some of our lead in round two, credit Furman they played consistent today. We are going to have to come out tomorrow and play well if we expect to win.
“I was really proud of Logan (Blondell), 67 was a great round of golf this morning. Spencer (Fulford) and Drew (Lethem) both played solid all day long. We are going to need to get a little bit more out of Jordan (Johnstun) and Ryan (LeFevre) if we are going to win the title,” stated Mays. “The course was in great shape today and the weather was perfect. All in all it was a great day of golf.”
