Women's Soccer is set to Face Chattanooga and Samford this Weekend

Statesboro, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Women’s Soccer Team is preparing to face off with Chattanooga and Samford this weekend at Eagle Field.
The Lady Eagles are now 3-4-2 (1-1-0) after splitting last weekend’s conference play. Georgia Southern defeated Wofford on Friday 2-1 and lost an overtime match against Furman 4-3.
In the Wofford match, the Lady Eagles rallied from a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1 off of Jenny Anderson’s (Birmingham, Ala.) game-winning goal in the 86th minute of play.
In the Furman match, the Lady Eagles got down 2-0 early in the second half, but Georgia Southern responded and took the lead off of Danae Kaimuloa’s (Escondido, Calif.) second goal of the match. Furman tied up the match in the 85th minute of action and won the match in overtime.
Ashley Toussaint (Warner Robbins, Ga.) leads the Lady Eagles in goals scored (7), assists (4), points (18) and shots on goal (22).
Toussaint ranks first in points per game, goals per game and fourth in assists per game in the SoCon.
Chattanooga is 4-6-1 (1-1-0) after knocking off Elon 2-1 on Sunday.
Georgia Southern and Chattanooga share one mutual opponent, High Point. Both the Lady Eagles and Lady Mocs tied in their match against the Panthers. Chattanooga held High Point scoreless but was unable to score itself, and the match finished 0-0. Georgia Southern found itself down 4-1 before rallying to tie the match 4-4.
Georgia Southern leads the all-time series with a record 9-3-1. The Lady Eagles won the first eight matchups against the Lady Mocs. Last season’s match ended in a 2-2 tie.
"Chattanooga is going to be a physical game," said Head Coach Ashley Hart. "It will be a good test for us."
Chattanooga is 2-2-0 on the road this season, while Georgia Southern is 0-2-1 at home.
Chattanooga ranks ninth in points, goals and 11th in assists in the SoCon.
D.K. Henry leads the offensive attack for the Lady Mocs with three goals scored and one assist.
Allie Preston leads the SoCon with 70 saves in 11 starts in goal.
The Chattanooga match is set for Friday at 4 pm at Eagle Field.
Samford is in its first season as a member of the Southern Conference.
The Bulldogs are 2-7-1 (1-0-1) after defeating Elon 3-0 and tying UNC Greensboro 0-0 in last weekend’s conference action.
"Samford has started out very well in conference. They have proven right off the bat that they will be a team to contend. They played a tough non conference schedule. Last year they received an at large build to the NCAA College Cup. I think their non conference schedule prepared them for SoCon play," said Coach Hart.
Samford and Georgia Southern have faced four times, and Samford leads the series with a 3-0-1 record and have won the last three matches. In the most recent match (Aug. 31, 2007) Samford defeated the Lady Eagles 1-0.
Sarah Wilkinson leads the Bulldog attack with two goals scored and an assist on the season.
Cayley Winters has been outstanding in net for Samford. She possesses a 0.76 goals against average and has made 39 saves on the season.
Samford ranks 12th in points, goals and assists in the SoCon.
The Samford match is scheduled for Sunday at 2 pm at Eagle Field.
