Matt Lombardi bio

Matt Lombardi joined the Georgia Southern staff in 2004 and during the spring of 2008 took on a new role in the Student-Athlete Services Department. Lombardi will work on that staff as an Academic Advisor with the student-athletes in all 15 sports.
Prior to his move over to Student-Athlete Services Lombardi oversaw the development of the school's Olympic sports athletes, and works with men's and women's basketball, football, cross country, track and field and men's tennis.
Lombardi was a four-year member of the Clemson University track and field team, leading the Tigers to four Atlantic Coast Conference titles. He earned all-ACC honors in the shot put event as a senior. Lombardi was a two-time NCAA Regional qualifier in the shot put and currently ranks fifth all-time in school history in the event. He earned his bachelor's degree in secondary education with an emphasis in biology in 2003, and is currently pursuing his master's degree in kinesiology-coaching at Georgia Southern.
Lombardi is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Specialist in Performance Nutrition (SPN), a certified club coach for Olympic weightlifting through the USAW, and is a member of the National Strength Coaches Association (NSCA).
