Matt Horne is in his fourth year as Assistant Athletic Media Relations Director at Georgia Southern.
Horne is the primary media contact for volleyball, men's basketball and softball, and is the statistician for GSU football games. In 2005-06, he was the media contact for women's basketball and from 2005-07 he was the women's soccer contact.
Prior to his arrival in Statesboro, Horne spent the previous four years as assistant sports information director at Tusculum College, serving as the primary contact for men's and women's soccer, women's basketball and softball. He also assisted with the media relations and promotions of Tusculum's 14 intercollegiate sports.
In addition to his sport responsibilities, he was also responsible for the athletic department web site and served as the main statistician for football, soccer, basketball and softball. In 2003, he served as media director for the inaugural Tusculum College/Kiawah Island Women's Golf Invitational held in South Carolina.
While at Tusculum, the College hosted the South Atlantic Conference Fall Sports Festival in 2001 and 2002, and the SAC Baseball Tournament in 2005. Horne was responsible for helping coordinate media affairs during those events.
An Atlanta, Ga. native, Horne went to Tusculum after spending a year at South Atlantic Conference member Wingate University as a graduate assistant in the sports information office. While at the Wingate, N.C. school, he was responsible for the Bulldogs' athletic web site, creation of game programs and day-to-day operations.
He is a graduate of Presbyterian College and holds a bachelor's degree in history. Horne is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America and served as a judge on CoSIDA's Publications Committee in 2003.
