Georgia Southern head diving coach Mindy Czech is coming off a season in which she was named 2007 Northeast Conference Diving Coach of the Year. Czech enters her third season at the helm of the Eagle Diving Team.
Last season, Czech guided sophomore diver's Katie Creighton and Nicole Hutchison to All-NEC performances. Hutchison received all-conference recognition for both the 1-meter and 3-meter Dives while Creighton was named to the All-NEC list in the 3-meter event. Hutchison won the conference championship in the 3-meter dive under Czech's watchful eye in 2007.
Prior to accepting the position with the Eagles, Czech served as a volunteer assistant coach with the University of Tennessee women's diving program from 1999-2001.
Czech started her collegiate career at Georgia Southern in 1994 and immediately began to display her talents from the one meter and three meter boards. In addition to earning four letters, she earned the distinction of Most Valuable Diver twice. In 1997, Czech was named Diver of the Year for the Southern States Championships and also qualified for the Southern States elite team. That year she also set a school record in the one meter dual with a score of 257.48, which still stands to this day. Czech capped off her career at Georgia Southern by qualifying for NCAA Zones her senior year.
As a prep athlete, Czech earned numerous accolades for Edgewater High in Orlando, Fla. She garnered All-American Diver distinctions in 1991 and 1993, competed at the Junior Olympic level and also held the title of Most Valuable Diver her sophomore through senior years. She qualified for the Florida State meet all four years, earned the Coaches' Award three times and was named team captain her senior year.
A native of Orlando, Czech currently resides in Statesboro. She was married in June of 2000 to Georgia Southern professor Dr. Daniel Czech and together they have a six-year old son Tucker and a two-year old daughter Rivers.
