STATESBORO, Ga. --- The Georgia Southern volleyball team wraps up a four-match homestand this weekend when they welcome Furman and Wofford to Hanner Fieldhouse.
The match on Friday (7 p.m.) against Furman is sponsored by Shane’s Rib Shack and the match on Sunday (2 p.m.) is sponsored by Domino’s Pizza. Food will be available on both dates.
Live stats will be available.
The Eagles (7-15, 4-6) have alternated wins and losses in their last eight outings and are coming off a 3-0 sweep of Davidson on Sunday.
The defense is largely to thank for the win over the Wildcats as they held Davidson to a -.079 hitting percentage in the first two games. The offensive attack was balanced, led by senior Gorana Bacic (nine kills, .500 hitting percentage) and freshmen Michelle Uzoh (seven, .375) and Sarah Gildersleeve (seven, .357). Uzoh is ranked fifth in the conference in hitting percentage (.309)
Furman (14-5, 7-2) has won eight of its last 10 outings, including a sweep of Georgia Southern in Greenville on Sept. 21. The Paladins are third in the Southern Conference standings behind the College of Charleston and Chattanooga. Nicole Palazzo tops the SoCon rankings in hitting percentage (.354) and blocks (1.35).
Wofford (8-14, 2-8), by contrast, has lost eight of its last 10 and dropped a 3-2 decision to GSU on Sept. 23.
