STATESBORO, Ga. ? The Georgia Southern women's soccer team will travel to Elon to take on the Phoenix, Sunday, at Elon's Rudd Field with kick-off slated for 2 p.m.
The Eagles (2-9-1, 1-3-1) and Phoenix (3-7-1, 1-2-0) will meet for the sixth time, Sunday as Elon claims a 3-2 all-time series advantage. The last time Georgia Southern defeated Elon was in 2006 when the Eagles garnered a 1-0 victory in Statesboro. Elon's last victory over the Eagles occurred in 2005 in a 5-1 win on their home turf.
Georgia Southern is coming off a 3-1 home loss to Furman (Oct. 11) and looks to snap a three-game skid. Elon recently snapped a six-game winless streak in a 7-1 home victory over Chattanooga (Oct. 7).
The Eagles are led on offense by junior Ashley Toussaint (Warner Robins, Ga.) with eight points on four goals. Toussaint's 2.82 shots per game ranks second in the conference. Juniors Holli Finneren (Lake Orion, Mich.) and Audrey Brown (Fort Worth, Texas) follow with five points, apiece, each with two goals and one assist.
Elon's Katina Boozer tallies a team-best six goals on the season, plus one assist for 17 points. Following is Kerri Spears with two goals and one assist, and Molly Calpin with one winner and three helpers. Boozer ranks among the league's best in goals and points on the season.
